With the Standard Proxy approach the filter server is installed
in the DMZ on the district side of the router as along with proxy software. The IP address
of the filter or the filter name is installed as the proxy in the available
browsers on each workstation. That can be done manually or using the auto
server feature on the existing school server.

All queries directed to the Internet are sent via the proxy-filter where queries are checked against the site blocking list, reverse DNS is reviewed and query content is reviewed. Return messages from the Internet are redirected to the filter- proxy where are analyzed for content and for content labels. |
