Filter Software for the School District.

The Filter-Structure - Age Levels

iTECH’s blocking list is structured on two dimensions: age-based filter levels and filter categories.  In school settings the filter levels refer to the age group of the student being filtered:

  • elementary;

  • middle school;

  •  high school.

  • An individual school with it's own iWayPatrol filter can be configured for the age appropriate level of filtering

    In a multi-school District the  age appropriate filtering can be configured based on the IP address of the workstation.  Typically elementary schools are on an IP sub-net within a larger District.  All web access from such an elementary "sub-net" can be filtered at the "elementary" age level.  Less restrictive filtering can be invoked for the middle school and high school sub-nets.

    Alternatively iWayPatrol can be configured so students login to access the Internet.  A filter age level is included in the record for each student.  This data base can be maintained from the district administrative records through the iWayPatrol administrative software.

    In addition to having the ability to set the level of filtering to one of the three age levels, iWayPatrol can be configured to permit access to a pre-approved site list.  Again using the login to determine the type of filtering, individual student access can be limited to sites specifically identified by the faculty lesson plans.

    This age level approach avoids the "one solution fits all" approach which characterizes almost all of the other filter products on the market.
